MBTF Training
Kind to Mind offers the usually 6-week training in the form of an MBTF Intensive, where you are immersed in forgiveness for 2.5 days. See below for a more detailed description.
Agenda
Mindfulness-Based Training in Forgiveness (MBTF)
Forgiveness can be seen as a conscious, deliberate decision to let go of feelings of resentment toward yourself or someone who has hurt you, whether or not they deserve that forgiveness. All religions and wisdom traditions recognize the value of forgiveness as a way to live and coexist more in harmony with ourselves and the world around us. Moreover, research confirms that forgiveness has qualities that promote health and well-being.
The MBTF is a 6-week training developed by Joyce Cordus and Frits Koster. During this training, you explore three different “currents” of forgiveness: forgiving yourself, asking for forgiveness and forgiving others. We do this at the individual level, in relation to groups and communities, and in relation to (the increasing polarization in) the world around us. In addition, we focus on all kinds of dilemmas and difficulties in practice and how we may approach these with compassion and understanding as well.

For whom?
MBTF is for anyone who wants to (learn to) forgive. That is, for anyone who wants to learn to deal with feelings of pain and sorrow because, for whatever reason, you have been hurt. But you don't want to get bogged down in resentment, bitterness and/or hatred in the process. Using mindfulness and compassion skills can then be very helpful. The training is therefore suitable for all professionals (not only mindfulness trainers) who work with people, are familiar with the practice of mindfulness for at least a year and who are looking for deepening of the practice and / or inner softening - to yourself and others.
For those who are unable to fit in an 6-week training, there is an opportunity to follow the training in a condensed form during two and a half days (also called MBTF Intensive). Participants can join both training formats to support their personal health and professional functioning, as well as a first step to apply for the MBTF Teacher Training to work proffesionally with (elements of) MBTF.

Content
What will be addressed
The training has a non-religious character, in which forgiveness will be explored in different ways:
-
In theory - through explanations of the different forms of forgiveness; herein, forgiveness is connected to knowledge from scientific research and from neuro- and positive psychology;
-
In practice - through guided mindfulness-based meditation exercises and interpersonal explorations in pairs or threesomes;
-
At the end, we will also explore how to further develop and integrate forgiveness into daily life.

Research
Forgiveness is recognized in many religions and ancient wisdom traditions as a quality needed to deal with life's imperfections and promote harmony in relationships. In addition, scientific research shows that forgiveness, for example, also contributes to better physical health (Cheadle & Toussaint, 2015), better mental health (Griffin et al., 2015), an improvement in well-being (Witvliet & Luna, 2018), stress reduction (Larkin et al., 2015).
The MBTF has been scientifically studied, the results are currently being analyzed and will be published soon. See www.vergevingsgezindheid.com for more information on the MBTF.
Proof of Participation
You will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the training.
